Perfume that R O C K S... (my favorites!)

May 6, 2017

Perfumes have been around for 4,000 years (from what we know), but not in the shape we had them today. They were actually pieces of oil and wax. Today, perfumes are a huge industry, where anyone can find something they like and that they feel represents them.

Every morning, as soon as I'm out of the shower, I put on my selected perfume for the day... Here are my favorites!

BYREDO

What: Revolutionary fragrance house of master perfumer Ben Gorham, eye candy packaging included.

♥ For me, their Bal d'Afrique fragrance. A warm and romantic vetiver inspired by Paris in the late 20's and its infatuation with African culture, art, music and dance...

Notes: Byredo describes Bal d’Afrique as a blend of bergamot, lemon neroli, marigold and bucchu. Accompanied with heart notes of violet, jasmine, cyclamen this eau de parfum concludes with a base of black amber, musk, vetiver and Moroccan cedar.

PRADA

What: Perfumer Daniela (Roche) Andrier collaborated with Miuccia Prada to create this collection of six elegant and sophisticated unisex fragrances. Each fragrance is an interpretation of natural ingredients and the contrast between traditionalism and modernity.

♥ For me, their “’Infusion d’Iris” fragrance. Extremely elegant and sophisticated fragrance, with flower accents. It is a contrast between great freshness and apparent lightness with a tender veil, sensual and strong, that envelops the body and clothing of the woman who wears the fragrance. Intimate and personal.

Notes: The notes of Prada Infusion d’Iris include mandarin, orange blossom, galbanum, iris, incense, benzoin, cedar, lentisc and vetiver

CHANEL

What: A unique collection of fragrances, composed in the past by Ernest Beaux, perfumer to Mademoiselle Chanel; composed in the present by Jacques Polge, House of Chanel master perfumer. Each work draws inspiration from the life of Gabrielle Chanel: poetic testimonies to legendary places, materials she loved, and the symbols that always followed. An essay in the perfumer's art; a timeless statement of style.

♥ For me, their Coromandel fragrance. An Oriental fragrance full of contrasts: intense,

spicy, amber top notes that develop richly and softly.

Notes: Jasmine, Patchouli, Woody notes, Amber, Benzoin, Frankincense

TOM FORD

What: Tom Ford Black Orchid (2006) was the first fragrance under the Tom Ford label.

♥ For me, their “Pour Femme” fragrance. Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme captures the fascinating paradox of the Tom Ford woman—the powerful assuredness she uses to turn heads and the vulnerable romanticism she keeps fiercely private. The feminine complement to Tom Ford Noir and its theme of masculine duality, Noir Pour Femme evokes the twin facets of this woman, capturing the feminine play of exposure and intimacy in a floral- oriental fragrance of extravagant and alluring accords.

Notes: Mandarin Oil, Bitter Orange Oil, Ginger Extract, Rose Absolute, Jasmine Accord, Orange Flower, Indian Kulfi Accord, Vanilla Madagascar, Amber, Australian Sandal Wood, Lentisque Resinoid.
